I am a graduate of KHS and a recipient of the Kendig Cup. My dad was extremely proud that I received this honor as he had such wonderful memories of Mr. Kendig and held him in high regard.

Mr. Kendig was a wonderful teacher and person. He was a role model to many students as well as fellow teachers. The days I was at Kennett High School were enhanced by Mr. Kendig's presence. Even years later, he knew who I was. His fortitude is to be admired. May God bless him and his family .

Mr. Kendig is, now 50 years later, a standout memory of my years at KCS. He was a good teacher, a fine coach, and a patient and decent man to us young people as we floundered through.

My condolences to Mr. Kendig's family. Mr. Kendig was a man I greatly admired and respected. He served as a role model and inspiration to me as a boy, and he continues to inspire me. He encouraged me to succeed and push myself to be better at everything I did, and I never wanted to disappoint him. I will never forget the day he took me aside and told me he was proud of me. I don't think I have a more fond memory of high school. He remains an inspiration to me to this day. I am sorry for your loss.

To Kevin, Terry, Dave and Mrs. Kendig, the Gatti family sends their deepest condolences. No memory of Kennett High would be complete without a thought of Nate Kendig. There was never any doubt that he was "The Boss". He always carried himself with class.

Our deepest sympathy to the Kendig family. Mr. Kendig was a very caring person. He was the best history teacher and basketball coach at Kennett High School. He taught us history using his life experiences to make history come alive to us. He will be greatly missed.

My condolences to the members of the Kendig family. I had the privilege of being a student of Mr. Kendig's at Kennett High. My understanding of United States History was shaped by him. Every time I think of him, I cam hear him saying "Andy Jackson was fightin' mad, and the people knew it." He was one of the great group of teachers at Kennett High who led me to make teaching my profession. Please know that you are all in the thoughts and prayers of many whose lives he touched.

Kate, Kevin, Terry and David, so sorry about your loss. I did visit Nate about a week before his passing. I knew he struggled with a lot of health issues, but know that he is no longer suffering. I'm sure he will meet up with my Mom in heaven and they will be talking about the Phillies. All of you are in my prayers. Kate, I will stop to visit with you soon.

Mr. Kendig was one of a kind. I remember at age 91 during his induction into the Chester County Sports Hall of Fame his speech started out with "today's young athletes have to learn RESPECT". He did so in his always strong booming voice and commanded the attention of the entire room. That was a moment i will never forget. He was a good influence to all that touched him. My prayers go out to Mrs. Kendig and the boys (Muscles, Boulder and Booty). Your parents did a great job with you three.

Nate. How lucky I was to have known you. We had a lot of fun times with family and friends for many years. You gave unselfishly to your students and young athletes and truly made a difference in their lives. Your legacy is admirable and will never be forgotten. Rest in peace.

Condolences to Kate, Kevin, Terry, David, and the rest of the family. I had the honor of knowing him while a student at Kennett High School and to know him as Uncle Nate at Camp Kennebec in the lat 60s and 70s, actually working for him for 3 summers in the camp kitchen. He was truly a great man: caring, competent, great sense of humor, and so much more. He and my dad, Ed Fitzkee, we're good friends, both hailing from Bainbridge. In fact, Uncle Nate was responsible for my dad being a counselor at Kennebec starting in about '63. I remember one day at Kennebec I noticed that a new meat vendor delivered meat to the camp. Knowing that Uncle Nate ordered all the food for the camp, I asked him about it. His response was classic Uncle Nate: with a face as if he was smelling something rotten, he explained simply, "He went mealy-mouth on me; one thing I can't stand is mealy mouth." And that was that. Uncle Nate influenced my life, and I will always be grateful that I knew him.

Nate was someone who truly made a difference in my life. His advice and encouragement kept me moving forward through my early teaching career. All who knew him have a smaller world now that he is no longer in it. My heartfelt sympathy to all his family, but most especially to "his Kate"

I had the honor and privilege of being Mr. Kendig's Kennett High School basketball team manager from 1964-67. He was a great man and a mentor to many. The lessons he taught me have lasted a lifetime. He will be remembered for his dedication to his students and his humor.

...with a loud & stern voice, "...shouldn't you be in class?..." I met Mr. Kendig when in 7th grade and what soon followed, even after high school, was knowing a respected father, man & teacher...my condolences to the the entire Kendig family...
