Played FB with Chuck during our career at Egan and saw him last in 1967 or '68 on a jungle landing strip in South Vietnam, somewhere in III Corps. Chuck's Air assault Company and my 'Guns' Company came together to plan operation against the bad guys. Had a 'nice' chat about 'Egan' Boys meeting in a place like this! As I recall, we completed the ops with little fanfare and I never saw Chuck again. Joe McCann said he was and 'funny' guy and I can certainly attest to that. Herb Ruthrauff Egan'62; La Mirada, CA.

Chuck and I went to grade school, high school and, for one year, college together. As close friends, we shared many, many laughs together. I have shared some of the zany outrageous things we did growing up with my grandkids. They laughed...and, so did I, again. Chuck will be many. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the Leahan family.

Coach Chuck was a great teacher of the game of football and of life. He was my coach at Monsignor Bonner, he taught my cousins (The Ruskys) Spanish at Archbishop Kennedy and he coach my nephews (The Berrodins) at Bishop Shanahan. He touched our lives in many ways in those formative years. We are all better people for knowing him. He was a lovable "tough" guy that none of us will ever forget. God Bless You Chuck.

"To Those I Love And Those Who Love Me "

When I am gone, release me. Let me go I have so any things to see and do. You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears, Be happy, we had so many years.

I gave you my love and you can only guess how much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown but now it's time I traveled alone.

So grieve a while for me if grieve you must then let your grief be comforted by trust. It's only for a while that we must part. So bless those memories in your heart.

I won't be far away for life goes on so if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near with all my love around you soft and clear.

And then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and "Welcome You Home".

Dearest Cindy & Family, we are so sorry to hear of your loss. Chuck was a great man & neighbor. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Mr. Leahan was one of my favorite teachers, I loved how he had nicknames for everyone in our Spanish class. One year he gave me a tape of the song my nickname was after, which I still have to this day. He will be greatly missed.

Mr. Leahan was an incredible pillar in my early years of high school. I played football my freshman year for him. He taught me so much. He was tough, yet lead with that guiding hand. I will miss knowing he walks among us. His cigar, giant stick that keep me on task in class and his ability to talk to me as a young man. I had and always will have a true meaning of the word respect for this man. God take u Mr. Leahan. I will carry ur memory with me always.

The life lessons that Mr. Leahan and the other great teachers and coaches at Kennedy were invaluable. His leadership, sense of humor, sensitivity and sensibility helped countless young people more than he will ever know. Forty-three years teaching high school and inspiring anyone who would listen (and whacking anyone who wasn't listening), is one heck of a resume to present. We'll all miss him but the memories and stories live on. My prayers are with him and his family.
