Harry was a good friend, a mentor, and an associate. From my earlier yrs as a Lightning sailor, my Dad subscribed to Harry's articles on sailing, and his amazing record. In the early 80's, as a recruiter and manager for New York Life, I was totally shocked when Harry showed up at my office in Richmond, inquiring about employment opportunities. I was speechless, having this living sailing legend before me. Harry and I made a pact that if he would continue as my sailing mentor, that I would mentor him in a career in financial services. Our friendship and bond went on for yrs. I can recall Christmas parties at his home in Gloucester, and his 60th birthday party, while he visited me at my weekend home in Norfolk on Willoughby Bay. I can also remember the hours we spent in his study as he shared sailing stories with me in a room loaded with trophies and accolades. I lost contact with Harry when I retired and moved to Florida in 2008, but was thinking about him just the other day. My prayers and thoughts go out to you, Janet and family, and can only say I felt honored to have known Harry, as an associate, friend, and mentor. My only regret is that my Dad, who passed in 1973, was not able to have met Harry. Knowing Harry was without doubt, one of my greatest adventures, in life. He even allowed me and family to use the Nassau for a summer cruise on the Chesapeake. I will never forget him, and treasure the time we had together.

Our sympathy goes out to the whole Sindle family. Harry was quite a man! I spent countless hours sailing the bay in his small "blue crab" sailboat and his "Gloucester 19" (bought in Ware Neck)...I even bought a "Gloucester 16" (power boat)...all great designs!! Wow , what a sailing legacy. You were awesome Harry! Brad...I'll see you out on the water and, you and Ashley keep on playing that music! It really is food for the soul!

I offer my condolences to Janet and the Sindle family for their loss. I met Harry and Janet back in the '60s when I began sailing an FD. They became good friends through our sailing adventures, particularly on the York and Ware Rivers. They were always a gracious and fun couple. Very supportive of all of the Yacht Haven and then later, the Ware River Yacht Club communities. What fond memories I have of friendships and adventures that began over 50 years ago.
