Mae Kastner Obituary

HAMPTON - Born in Milwaukee on October 4, 1922 to loving parents, Edward and Gertrude Steffen and a two year old brother Eddie. Mae was involved with the United Methodist Church all of her life. She met her future husband Bob Kastner at a church gathering. They were married for 25 years until his death at the age of 48. Mae found a way to go on, to teach and to send her 4 daughters through college. Mae was a teacher in the Milwaukee public school system for 28 years. A home instruction teacher taught high school aged students at home. She was active in her church and professional groups, United Methodist Women, Delta Kappa Gamma, Eastern Star. Mae loved to travel and did so as often as possible! Mae was blessed with many wonderful relatives and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her, but especially her daughters, Beth (Bill) Wood, Nancy Roefer, Carol (Dave) Norton, and Barbara Severance, her five grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren. Mae's constant belief is that you find a way to go on! Mae's Celebration of life will be held at Chestnut Memorial United Methodist Church, Newport News, VA on August 19, 2017, at 11:00 am.

Mae was a best friend and traveling buddy to my Mom, Marion. My tears turned to a smile when I thought of them together again.
Love and hugs to the family.
