"There once was a man from Nantucket." This was Art's opening line for my father's eulogy. Art was my father's best friend and as such, played an integral part in my upbringing. He was the guy with the coolest backyard I'd ever seen, told jokes that might have been ahead of my time (didn't go well for me when I repeated them in grade school), his woodworking abilities leave me in awe to this day, his love for that metal detector always made me view him as a treasure hunter or better yet, a modern day pirate, most of all though, I took away an understanding of true friendship through my observations of he and my father. They were always there for one another, shared the same passions, saw eye to eye on everything politically related, and took a trip to Maine together that absolutely highlighted my dad's later years. Having Art there for me at my wedding was beyond meaningful. The news of his loss hits hard as the realization sets in that the world will never be quite as good of a place again without him in it. I offer my sincerest condolences to his family but I have a good idea where he is right now and he's loving it. Thanks for everything Art and then some. See you at the toll house one day.-Philip Boykin

To The Knowles Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. You all are in my prayers during this most difficult time in each of your lives. Continue to trust in God and He will send the comforter to help ease the pain of the loss of your dear love one. I knew Art many years ago because I worked with him at Va. Power in the coal yard. Remember to always keep those precious memories of Art and your Mother also close to each of your hearts. God bless each of you.
