Michael Stabile

Byram Twp. - Michael Stabile died on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Overlook Hospital in Summit. He was 70. Born in Nutley, he lived in Byram Twp. since 1973.

Mr. Stabile was the owner and operator of Wild West City in Byram Twp., which was originally opened by his late parents, Michael and Mary Stabile.

He was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen, and son, Dennis Stabile. He is survived by three sons: Michael Stabile of Los Angeles, CA, Joseph Stabile of Dover, and Robert (& Iryna) Stabile of Trieste, Italy; three sisters: Sharon Adelman of VA, Carol Stabile of Eugene, OR and Mary Benson of Andover; two brothers: Edward Stabile of Belleville, and James Stabile of Stillwater; and his granddaughter, Valentina Stabile.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 29th at 9:00AM from the Morgan Funeral Home, 31 Main St, Netcong to a funeral Mass at St. Michael's Church, Netcong at 10:00AM. Interment will follow at Stillwater Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Condolence messages may be sent to: NetcongFuneral.com

I had limited contact with Michael, but his association with my uncle Max King will always remain with me. My uncle spoke of him many times and I will never forget Michael's appearance at Max's memorial service. It meant a lot. I myself have many pleasant memories of Wild West City having worked there part time in its inaugural season. God speed Michael.

My name is Bob Hurring. I am Max Kings nephew and just wanted to extend my sympathies to your family. Max always spoke so very highly of you. I met Mike at Max's memorial service in 1995. I really appreciated his presence.
I too am a Wild West City alumni and have multiple pictures in my home of Max and I in our gun slinging days. Mike's name will forever be embedded in those memories

Michael was an an inspration to all who knew him. He has left a wonderful legacy behind..

My condolences to the whole Stabile family. We go way back to the Nutley days. Mike, Sharon and Eddie and Jimmy grew up across the street. We always were together. I had the pleasure of reconnecting with Michael and Carol this past summer at WWC. Rest in peace Mikey. God bless.

Mike was an amazing person! No matter the trials of life, he kept the faith and a kind heart. He was one of my dad's best friends. He was so caring to my family whan my Dad died. He was an exeplementary person. My family was blessed to know him.

My memories of the Stabile family date all the way back to the 1960's when as a young child my parents took us to Wild West City every summer, through the 1970's as a teenager, the 1980's as a young adult, the 1990's as a parent taking my own children there and the 2000's watching my children work there. What wonderful memories I have of all the Stabile family members at Wild West City and Michael especially. He was a wonderful, loving, patient, intelligent, compassionate man and will be missed forever by all those fortunate enough to have known him . My condolences to the entire family of this great man, his spirit will forever live on in our hearts and memories of him will always bring a smile to my face. It has been an honor to have known this man and an honor to have had his influence bestowed upon my children.

Mike was always quick with his humor & intellect & he always made you feel like you were part of an extended family. Mike was a rare person & I'm honored to have known him. Michael was a longtime friend of my husband and I , going back at least 40 yrs. We remember great times at Wild West city, the shows, the picnics, the baseball games, the huge spread of food at those picnics, too! We remember when Cathy was alive, she pitched in and made sure everyone was having a good time and plenty to eat whenever the celebration called for it. She and Mike were inseparable, raising their sons to become good men, and instilling them with their Faith in God. I am sure Cathy, Mike, and Dennis are together again, watching over their remaining family members, and interceding for them. May Mike, Cathy, and Dennis rest in the Peace and Presence of Christ.
