News Death Notice

JONES, Walter Lee Age 77, of Dayton, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2010. Walter was preceded in death by his mother, Laura Hester Lowe; his grandmother, Nancy Lowe; and by two brothers, Douglas & Lynn. Walter is survived by his wife of the past 55 years, Anna Pearl Jones; two daughters, Eulondia & her husband, Gary Blakeman and Eurondia & her husband, Bill Barto; six grandchildren, Sabrina, Cheryl, Euvondia, Eulondia, Eusondia & Charles; three great grandchildren, Ava, Kellan & Trevianna; two brothers, William & Paul Jones; three sisters, Barbara Case, Nancy Dowling & Sharon Jones; and by his extended family & many good friends. Walter was a member of and very active with Fairview Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He retired from General Motors with 30 years of service. During the Korean Conflict, Walter served in the U. S. Air Force. He was a member of Brookville Lodge # 596 F & AM; O.E.S.; Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton and the Antioch Shrine. The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 8:00 p.m., Friday (1/8), at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Richard Donovan officiating. Interment will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to Wayne Gentry who was Walters care giver for the past five years.
