She was a genteel woman, yet solid as a rock. I am so happy that me, your grand-daughter Donna Few-Murphy and my children kept company with you, before you went on your way. Here is the poem I wrote about you some years ago; thank you for telling me your story grandmother.

For the family who couldn't be there at grandma's funeral, please take comfort that her eulogy was delivered with Care. I only had the pleasure of knowing her in her golden years but I got to know her life story as it was beautifully delivered to us during the service. My great grandmother was a remarkable woman who set standards and bench marks that can rarely be matched ! All the while taking care of her family and staying an active member if her church for 80 years. She was rich in life. Rip eternally grandma. She will stay in my heart forever.

"Soldiers Home West Carrollton Road" ~ Ms Sharon Few

There is a place I visit in my dreams;
Close your eyes, I wish to take you there.
We're on a long, virtually endless path,
But this steers us toward pleasing memories.

Miles and miles of country roads,
We might nap once, perhaps twice,
Before reaching our destiny.
But please don't snooze, because you might lose a memory or two.

There, see the old dirt road, it will guide us to...
Soldiers Home West Carrollton Road!
There stands the outdoor picture show;
Delight yourself with a glance.

Relax, take a breath, inhale the smell of buttered popcorn.
Look...look...there's Godzilla, let's hurry...
He's coming our way...
Hurry, please turn onto - Soldiers Home West Carrollton Road!

Now all is calm but not for long,
Zoom...Zoom...Zoom...we just passed the Dayton Speedway,
Where all the fast cars race, and men spend their Saturdays.
Not much farther to go, look you can see her green garden grow.

Grandma's home, there sits a jar of her peach preserves.
She's cooking dinner; we're in for a treat.
Um...can't you smell her apple pies?
They bake within the large farm-house.

The porch still stands of rocks and rust.
Reach out and touch the memories, they remain the same:
The apple orchard; the chicken coup, remnants of our old tree house.
But grandpa isn't there; he died when I was eight.

Though I can picture his image, his ice-cream cone.
I pounce on his lap and take a lick;
It's wet and sticky, it's chocolate!
He smiles...and I return his pleasure -

On Soldiers Home West Carrollton Road!

Dedicated to Grandma and Grandpa Few
Your Oldest Grandchild, Sharon Few

When Grandma and Grandpa would leave and go to work, Raymond and I would drink their leftover coffee, as we cleared the table. Then I would head for her closet and dress up in all of her pretty clothes. We also had a dog, Chico was his name; he would chase us as we caught lightning bugs on the front lawn.

"Mourn me not; but remember I have lived –
And let that little bit of me that lies in you live on.
Don't let it hold you back, or give you cause for tears;
But let it spur you on to live and love and laugh."

TO THE FAMILY,
MRS. LUCRETIA WAS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL LADIES I HAD THE PLEASURE OF KNOWING SHE WAS FUNNY AND SO SWEET I HAD THE PLEASURE OF BEING TAKEN CARE OF BY MRS,LUCRETIA YEARS AGO AT MIAMI VALLEY HOSPITAL AND THEN SPENDING TIME WITH HER AND TRANSPORTING HER TO AND FROM GOODWILL EASTERSEALS ADULT DAYCARE. SHE WAS SUCH A JOY TO WORK WITH, SHE WILL BE TRULY MISSED, BUT NEVER EVER FORGOTTEN. SHE WAS A TRUE ANGEL HERE ON EARTH. SO I KNOW SHE IS SURELY AN ANGEL WITH OUR HEAVENLY FATHER. MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU ALL HER LOVING FAMILY.
SINCERLY MS. KATHY B.
