Betty Kimble Obituary

KIMBLE, Betty W. Was born on July 2, 1924 in Richmond, Indiana to Elijah and Myrtle Kenworthy. She had an older sister, Margaret, now deceased; a younger sister, Dorothy, and two younger brothers, James and John. Betty grew up in Kettering, Ohio. She was the lead majorette in her high school's band along with her sister, Dorothy. Her talent was recognized by an art teacher, which began a lifelong love for art. She would live as a working artist for over 70 years in Dayton and Marco Island. She was an avid athlete in her younger years, and won statewide recognition in archery competitions. She met her husband, Edward, while in high school, and they married after he returned from World War II. She loved helping others, and donated her time and art to children in local hospitals. All the way up to her death, she was passionate about her art, and especially enjoyed the social aspect of working as an artist in her community. Her specialty was the hand-drawn cards she made and sold at a local gift shop on Marco Island. After her husband passed away in 1966, Betty made a living as an artist full time. She raised three sons, Robert, Steven, and Edward, on her own. She is also survived by her grandson, Christopher; her granddaughter, Deborah; and her two great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Michael. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Tobias Funeral Home, 5471 Far Hills Ave., 45429 in Dayton, Ohio on Saturday, September 1. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life. The burial will take place afterwards at Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org). If you wish to write a card to her family, please send to her son, Robert Kimble at 1580 Caxambas Ct., Marco Island, FL 34145.

I am sorry to hear of Betty's passing. She has been a friend of mine for over 60 years. Betty's friendship has always been a blessing in my life that will leave a void. She was the same person at the age of 94 as she was when I met her many years ago. Our families liked to camp and have picnics together. Our husbands Dale and Ed loved to go deer hunting together. She was always cheerful, wonderfully artistic and overall beautiful person. I wish all her family peace and God's comforting love at this time.

To Bob and family: So sorry to hear from a friend in Dayton, spoke with her on her birthday and Tims, exchanged cards and then one other time in July. What a terrific lady, friend and loved one. We will miss her for sure. Bob, the number I had for you is no longer good, tried to call you. Perhaps when back in Florida you could contact us 407 314-4453. Our love to all of you. We are remembering the pleasant and fun times with your Mom and others while we were in Dayton, also on our visits to Marco.
