Dear Ramsey family,

I am SO very sorry and saddened to hear of your recent loss. My heartfelt prayers go out to each and every one of you. As Eric was my instructor for a College Without Walls class this quarter, I never got the privilege to meet him. But, I was highly impressed with Eric's promptness and kind replies to my e-mails. I've never had a professor be so responsive to my needs. Please accept my sincere condolences.

I was fortunate enough to have Mr. Ramsey as my teacher during the first quarter of my freshman year at Sinclair in 2001. Out of all of my teachers that I have had at Sinclair, he has been the one that sticks out the most. He had the unique ability to reach anyone on a personal level and get them involved. He was a truly gifted and fortunate person to have lived such a wonderful life in such a short time. My thoughts are with his family.

Dear Ramsey family,

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Prof. Ramsey's accident. He was my instructor for several Psychology classes at Sinclair, and always a joy to the class. His frequent stories about sports (oh how he loved the Bengals and Reds!) , his observations of his sons ("I play with the kids too much" he would say with a wry grin, giving us an example of boyish behavior that related to the coursework), his obvious love for his wife and family and for teaching were rich with examples and visual images as he described parts of his life to us. His intellect was amazing and his grasp of the material that he skilfully brought to his students was gratifying. We will miss him - I will miss him, as I was looking forward to being taught by him when I continue my studies at UD. I wept when I read an email sent by a friend that told of his death, wept for his colleagues, his friends, his wife, his sons and his family. My heart goes out to all of you and you will be in my prayers.

To Eric's parents, sister, and family-

I was just notified today of Eric's passing. I cannot express my feelings of loss and sadness. Eric was my 1st boyfriend, my best friend through school and college, and long time "buddy" for almost 30 years. Distance, marriages, and children never changed the great friendship we shared. He was an amazing friend and a wonderful man. I was looking forward to hopefully getting to see him at the upcoming 2005 Oakwood Class of 1980 reunion. We had not been able to keep in touch really since our 10 year reunion, but kept each other in our thoughts and prayers. I am sure he is now at peace. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May God be with you all.

To the family I knew so well--Jim, Shirley and Beckie--my deepest sympathy. Eric was my best friend for many years. I had the privilege of spending much of my adolescent and young adult years in his company. His high intellect, terrific humor, musical talents, and great friendship were invaluable to me. While many years had passed since our years together in Oakwood and, later, the University of Dayton, we had reconnected in 2003 by email and looked forward to a coming reunion in 2005 to recount the many experiences since our last meetings. We had both had interesting lives, wives, children and career achievements. I will miss him greatly, but take comfort in anticipation of the stories and memories surely to be told by those who have known and loved him. Eric was a devoted son, teacher, husband, father and friend.

Dear Ramsey Family,

I wanted to express my sincere condolences to all of your family. I knew Eric when he worked at Wright-Patt. Through a friend of mine, Joe Riegler, I found out that Eric had since found his true love (his wife) and his true calling (teaching). From the letters I have seen his dedication and love for both were obvious. Rejoice in the positive effect he had on so many lives and the memory of his love for his family. I wish now that I had known him better. Those that did were lucky people.

Dear Ramsey family,

I extend my deepest regret and sympathies to you at the loss of Eric.

He was a good friend of mine. We worked together in the '80s at

Wright-Patt, and continued our friendship after he went on to teaching. We attended MANY Bengals games together, played on company sports teams, and shared many life experiences. He had a wonderful heart, a great sense of humor, and was always a true friend. I will greatly miss him.

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Eric was my psychology professor two quarters ago, and I absoluely enjoyed his class. His wry sense of humor and his joy in guiding people toward greater understanding was truely a pleasure to be a part of.

Whenever he would speak of his family, his love for each of you was obvious. He spoke of all of you frequently.

He affected my life in a positive way. While I was his student my daughter was diagnosed with learning disabilities and other problems. He helped me to understand them and he helped me to better understand how to work with them and around them. My daughter's very unhappy life is now mostly a thing of the past. Because Eric helped me, my daughter is now successful and happy where before she was angry and apathetic.

His influence will be felt by many people for a very long time. I will miss him.

Dear Ramsey Family,

I'm extremely saddened by your loss. I actually signed up for his class because I'd heard such wonderful things about him as a teacher. Turns out they were absolutely true, and I passed on the word to my friends after taking his class. He was hilarious and very humble, which is more than I can say for the other professors throughout my college career. He had a way of easing a terribly difficult subject and he made us want to learn it. I'll never forget some of the things he taught us in class because of the creative ways he thought up for teaching. I can't remember the names of most of my sophomore year professors, but he stands out. That's been two years ago. Just remember, you will see him again, and think of all the lives he has touched.

He had a great sense of humor and a teaching style that was unique. This is such a hard thing to deal with and I can only imagine what the family is going through. My prayers will always be with you and I will never forget him.

I was saddened to hear of your loss. I have never had the pleasure of having Mr. Ramsey as a teacher-- but knew of him through other events.

I recently lost my father (on October 11th of this year) and my brother 4 years ago. IT WILL GET BETTER. One day, you will wake up and the pain will be just a little less severe than it was the day before. Live for Eric. Honor Eric. God took him for a reason-- just like he took my dad and my brother. Your family is in my prayers.

Believe in the dark what the Lord told you in the light.
