Jane Meyers, 92 years old, died on December 12, 2015 at Lofland Genesis Care Center, Seaford. Mrs. Meyers was born in Cowan, Tennessee on May 12, 1923 and moved to Delaware when her father got a job with the DuPont Company. She was the secretary for both United Methodist Churches in Seaford and the first administrative assistant for the Methodist Manor House. Her ability to design both yards and the inside of houses was legendary. She often said in conversations with her daughter that she was born ahead of her time wishing that as a woman she had the chances to advance in a career. She received an Associate Degree in English from the University of Delaware.On April 28, 1945 she married Charles Meyers of Philadelphia. They lived for each other and his death in 2008 was a jarring shock. For Mrs. Meyers, family was the most important guiding star and she cherished every moment with them.

Mrs. Meyers was preceded in death by her husband, Charles in 2008, her parents, Grady and Lucille Starnes, her sisters Florine Chapplle Moore, Elizabeth Andrews, Ruth Starnes, and Lucille Boyce, and her brother, Benton Starnes. She was also preceded in death by one nephew, David Boyce, and two nieces, Cathy Boyce Phillips, and Gwen Mitchell. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, The Rev. Dr. Patricia A. Meyers(Lee Hearn), two brothers, The Rev. Thomas Starnes (Wave), The Rev. Luther Starnes (Joyce), and two brothers-in-law Olen Boyce (Sandy) and William Slatcher (Dolores).

There will be an hour of visitation on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 10:30 am followed by a funeral service at 11:30 am at the Fleischauer Funeral Home, 16 W. Market St., Greenwood, DE 19950. Burial will be at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Millsboro, DE. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Muscular Dystrophy Association Duchene research, Multiple Sclerosis Society, or the charity of your choice.
