Mary Higgins Obituary
AGE: 84 • Seaford
Mary Louise Roser Higgins, 84, of Seaford, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Lofland Park Center. She was born on August 3, 1929 in Irvington, New Jersey, a daughter of the late Harold and Mary Roser. Mary Lou was raised in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. She was a graduate of Kennett Square High School and the University of Delaware in Newark. On September 20, 1952 she married her husband, Joseph, and they raised their children together in Seaford. She was an accomplished pianist and organist and accompanied LaNada Ballet Studio and the Seaford High School chorus. Mary Lou was also a lifelong dog lover, who loved and cared for Welsh Corgis.
She is survived by her children, Michael Roser Higgins (Donna) of Seaford, Mary Jo Mankin (Mark) of Newark, DE, Katherine Cooper (Gerry) of Warwick, RI, and Marcia Scott of Laurel; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph William Higgins and a sister, Katherine Roser.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2013 at the Seaford Presbyterian Church, 701 Bridgeville Highway in Seaford. Visitation with the family will precede the service and begin at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Laurie Hiller will officiate. Following the service, there will be a time of food and fellowship with the family in the church hall. Burial will be private at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mary Lou's memory to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
