Mark Crouch Obituary

Mark Arnold Crouch

AGE: 61 • New Castle

Mark Arnold Crouch, age 61, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 5, 2016.

Born in Lynchburg, VA on December 27, 1954, he was the son of Malcolm L. and L. Jewel (Ramsey) Crouch. Mark enjoyed a 25 year career in the broadcasting industry where he managed several radio stations, worked as an electrical engineer and also provided voice-over talent. He would later accept a position as a data analyst with United Health Care where he would spend the remainder of his working life. Mark also worked as a professional Santa during the holidays bringing joy to both children and adults alike.

A man of many talents, Mark adored gardening, cooking, creative writing and piloting small planes. He held a special place in his heart for animals of all kinds. An avid sports fan, Mark was a passionate Redskins and Phillies supporter and enjoyed following Jeff Gordon in NASCAR. He was a jack of all trades who would happily lend his skills to assist with audio and video editing or to fix a lock or small engine. A lifelong learner, Mark was an aspiring science, history and politics buff. He also enjoyed reading about conspiracy theories and pseudoscience topics, and especially enjoyed anything relating to the John F. Kennedy Assassination, predictions and clairvoyance. Caring, kind and compassionate, Mark served as a volunteer EMS and was known as the "Family Doctor" to his loved ones, providing medical advice when they were sick. He will be remembered as a devoted and loving father, grandfather and friend and will be very dearly missed.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Malcolm L. Crouch; beloved wife, Martha A. Crouch; and brother, Vincent Crouch. He is survived by his mother, Jewel Crouch; longtime companion, Barbara Vied; children, Markus A. Crouch (Sally R. Simpson), Malcolm V.E. Crouch (Joyce M. Wood), Matthew A. Crouch (Ashley Thompson), Joshua L. Smith, Maggie A. Aurit (Steven) and Enda L. Figueroa (Abiel); grandchildren, Malcolm J. Crouch, Calvin M.A. Crouch, Adryanna Greene, Julianna Crouch and Martha C. Aurit.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 12 Noon on Monday, December 12, 2016 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will follow at 12 Noon. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
