Nancy D Carlson, age 83 of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 14, 2014 after a long illness. She was surrounded by her immediate family. Born in Toughkennamon, PA on September 29, 1930, Mrs. Carlson was the daughter of the late Michael Dwyer and Mary Edna Gallagher Dwyer.

Nancy worked as a payroll manager at Chrysler Corporation before leaving to raise her family. In her later years, she worked as a bookkeeper. Mrs. Carlson was a long time and active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Newark. She possessed a unique collection of dishes that she had gathered over the years. When she was younger, Nancy enjoyed traveling and going out to dinner with her late husband, Robert. She also enjoyed needlework as well as many other crafts. Nancy also was an impeccable homemaker who took pride in cleaning and decorating her home .

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Carlson, who passed away in 1997. Mrs. Carlson is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Carlson and wife Michelle, of Newark DE and Robert Carlson and wife Jessica, of Wilmington DE; and 4 grandchildren Rachel Carlson, Jeffrey Carlson, Danielle Carlson and Melissa Carlson.

Services will be held privately with interment at the Union Hill Cemetery, Kennett Square, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Delaware Chapter, 240 North James Street Suite 100A, Newport, DE, 19804.
