Age 81, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully at St. Francis Hospital on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 surrounded by his family.
Born in Wilmington, Paul was the son of Helen DiStefano and the late Albert DiStefano. He was an electrician and a member of the IBEW Local #313, where he also served on the Executive Board. He was a member of the EWOD Credit Union since 1971 and was credit director from 1975 through 2006 and treasurer from 1991 through 2005. Paul was graduate of P.S. DuPont High School and Devry Institute of Technology. A member of St. Elizabeth Church, he served as an usher and was a member of the parish Athletic Association. He was an avid bowler for the Un ion League and the Catholic Men?s League, and he also coached Little League in the Buzz Zebley League. His wife of 58 years, Mary (Connelly) DiStefano, predeceased him on September 16, 2006.
In addition to his mother, Helen, he will be dearly missed by his sons and their wives, Paul C. of Wilmington, Gary A. and Karen of Bear, and Ron and Lisa of North Wilmington; and his daughter, Janice D. Sparco of Newark. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Gary, Ashley, Brittany and Andrew; and his sister Ann Mastrota of Wilmington.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 1st between 6-8 PM at Mealey Funeral Home, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday morning at 10 AM at St. Elizabeth Church, Cedar and Clayton Streets, Wilmington. Entombment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Heartland Hospice House, 5661 Ochletree Lane, Wilmington, DE 19808.
