ROBERT BINKLEY Obituary

Robert L. Binkley

Age 89, of Wilmington, DE, died on Sunday, Sept. 12th, 2010.

He was born Sept. 3, 1921 in Winston Salem, North Carolina to the late Everett O. Binkley and the late Irene Johnson Binkley.

Robert graduated from Kennett High School in 1939 and worked in the Powerhouse at Hercules as a Broiler Maintenance Operator for 27 years before retiring in 1982.

Robert enjoyed coin collecting and attending auctions along with family and friends, he also enjoyed various home projects and watching the Phillies and Eagles, and the companionship of his dog Scrappy.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Hazel L. Binkley and daughters, Jean Binkley, Helen Binkley; step-daughters Gail Varady, Barbara Faulkner, and Betty Sue Lowd now deceased. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Robert Lee Higgins and Johnathan E. Higgins, and step- grandchildren; Kimberly Bright, Mark Weir, Jennifer Varaday, Holly Gaskin, Andy Varady, April Varady, Dawn Graham, Nicole Griffith, Bill Lowd, Scott Lowd and 19 step- great-grandchildren. Robert is also survived by his sisters, Mary Lou Shaw, Sarah Woodward, Dorothy Hartman, Irene Herr and brother Thomas Binkley, and was preceded in death by brothers, Clyde, Everett and Edward.

Friends and family may call at MCCRERY'S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 3710 Kirkwood Highway Wilmington, DE 19808 at 10 am on Thursday Sept. 16, 2010. Services will be at 11 am. Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks contributions to Faith Baptist Church, 4210 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808.
