John Redefer Obituary
Beloved husband and father
April 25, 1934 - January 25, 2011
John Edgar Redefer "Jack" 76, long time resident of Dewey Beach and Rehoboth, passed away January 25, 2011 at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, DE.
Jack was born April 25, 1934, and for 76 years loved walking the coast line of Dewey Beach and fishing in the Rehoboth Bay.
He is survived by his beloved wife Dolores R. Redefer, whom he married on September 12, 1959. Jack, Dolores and family recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary.
"What you got here" is Jack is also survived by five children: John E. Redefer III (TJ), Beth R. Caruso, Christopher R. Redefer, Julianne R. Mills, P. Justin Redefer; 10 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents Ethel and Jack Redefer, his sister Janet Judge and his sister Margo Vaughn.
In addition, to being the patriarch of a large family, Jack was a life-long member of the Catholic Church. Graduating from the University Notre Dame in 1950's, served as the Captain of the Rehoboth Life Guard in the 1950's, worked for Sears for 30 years, and was a member of the Board of Directors for Rehoboth by the Sea Reality since 1961. Operated Rehoboth Bay Realty, Co. since 1986 and served in many leadership roles in real estate on a local and national level for many years
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 29, 11 am at St. Edmond's Church, 409 Kings Charles Ave, Rehoboth Beach, DE. Interment will follow at Epworth Methodist Cemetery, Henlopen Ave, Rehoboth Beach. Friends may call Friday, January 28, 6-8 pm, at PARSELL FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATORIUM, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy, Lewes, DE.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Rehoboth Beach Elementary School PTO, 500 Stockley Street, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
