Robert E. Eastep

Robert E. Eastep, age 77 passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 8, 2011.

Bob was born in Huntington, PA on September 15, 1933. He graduated from Huntington High School and served in the United States Navy. He was a member of Pipefitter Local 74 and retired in 1998. Bob was an avid University Delaware football fan. He was a season ticket holder for over 40 years and was a member of the Blue Hen Touchdown Club. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of Cavalier's Country Club for many years. Bob loved spending time with his family, especially attending his grandchildren's sporting events.

Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jill (Holmquist) Eastep; his daughter, Judy Baker and her husband Gary; and his son, Jeffrey Eastep and his wife Maryann. Bob is also survived by his five grandchildren, Maxwell, Benjamin, and Grant Baker; and Courtney and Connor Eastep.

A funeral service will be held at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 3200 Limestone Road Pike Creek on Wednesday, July 13, at 11 am, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Entombment will be in All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Robert may be sent to the Helen Graham Cancer Center, 4701 Ogletown - Stanton Road Newark, DE 19713.

Jill & Family,

Jay and I, were sadden to hear of Bobs passing, we'd like to express our deepest condolences to you, and your family.

We had the great pleasure of being introduced to your family through my parents, Will and Shirley Moore.

Whether we were tailgating before a Blue Hen Game, or on a bus trip to an away Blue Hen Game or just sitting at dinner with Bob at Klondike Kates listening to the K.C. Keeler Show, Jay and I always enjoyed his company. He was an amazing man and a great friend to many and he will be greatly missed by all who had the opportunity to have known him.

I am so sorry for your lost, I worked with Bob at I.D. Griffith, Inc. for some years, he was a good man. I worked with Bob for 40 years and he was a consumate craftsman as a pipefitter and a man...He had that dry sense of humor and I loved working with him because I knew we would always have fun...I will miss him and I am sure he is enjoying the wonders of Heaven...
