Naomi Wirt Obituary

Naomi Lauck Wirt

AGE: 87 • New Castle

Age 87, died on December 11, 2013, in New Castle.

Naomi was born on September 9, 1926 in Hurlock, Maryland, the first daughter of Roy and Eleanor Lauck who pre-deceased her. She graduated from Hurlock High School, and was the first of her family to attend college. During WWII, while at Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, she met her husband of over 38 years, the late Richard William Wirt of Hillcrest, who she married in 1946.

Her 40 year work career included the Wilmington Office of Rent Control, and Pusey and Jones, Inc., retiring from Delaware State Hospital after many years where she worked as Assistant to the Hospital Administrator. She was an active member of the Delaware Saengerbund, participating each year in Oktoberfest. She will be remembered by her friends and family for her humor, her love of animals, and her passion for reading.

She is survived by a son, Dr. Gary L. Wirt of New Castle; a daughter, Vicki Lynn Baen of Minquadale; two grandchildren, Lindsay Wirt and Richard Simpler; and a sister, Margaret Warner (John) of East New Market, Maryland. She is also survived by six great grandchildren, Kayla, Richie, Madyson, Brayden, Caleb and Lily, along with a niece and two nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service at Gracelawn Memorial Park Chapel, DuPont Pkwy., New Castle, on Monday, December 16, 2013 at 2 pm. Friends may call at the chapel from 1-2 pm. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Goldey-Beacom College Scholarship Fund, 4701 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808, or to the Faithful Friends Animal Rescue, 12 Germay Dr., Wilmington, DE 19804.
