Franklin "Woody" Woodruff, Jr.

AGE: 85 • Wilmington

Franklin "Woody" Woodruff, Jr., 85, passed away Wednesday January 14, 2015 at Arden Courts, Wilmington. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years Mary Ellen "Molly" (Hart) Woodruff. Born in Orange, NJ, October 17, 1929, he was the son of the late Janet and Franklin Woodruff Sr. After graduation from Rumson High School in 194_ he served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a Second Lieutenant stationed in Okinawa. He was employed by the Milar Paper Company in New York City and then the Old Dominion Paper Company in Salisbury, Md.

Woody was a talented artist, whose landscape paintings mostly depicting the Eastern Shore are owned and displayed throughout the Delaware and Maryland. His work is highlighted in mural form in the City Hall of Seaford, Del. as well as the Seaford Museum. Many local businesses also exhibit his work.

He enjoyed traveling, especially to his beloved Italy, fishing, singing with the Barbershop chorus and later in life took up the game of golf, even having a hole in one! Woody would volunteer his artistic talents and spent many hours at the Seaford Museum and helped out whenever and wherever he could. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church.

Woody loved to make people smile and always had a joke or a kind word.

Survivors: Predeceased by his second wife, Carol Wright Woodruff, Son, John Franklin Woodruff and his wife, Kim Rhodes-Woodruff of Newark, Del., daughter, Mary Leslie Kingston and her husband Richard T. Kingston, Jr. of Bethlehem, Pa. Predeceased was his daughter and son-in-law Mary Ellen "Mellie" and Ronald Kinnamon. Sisters, Virginia MacConnell of Red Bank, NJ, Jane Kerns of Reva, VA, Angela Seiler Hill and husband Robert of Midlothian, VA, Sally Ogden and husband Monk, of Peru, VT and brother Norman Seiler and wife Mary Anne of Melbourne, FL. Grandchildren, Eleanor Woodruff, Elizabeth Woodruff, Benjamin Woodruff, Douglas Kingston, Abigail Kingston and Thomas Kingston.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 21st at 11 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 532 E. Stein Hwy, Seaford, where friends may call from 10 to 11. Burial will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.

Played Bridge numerous times with Molly and Woody - also with George Felton who was also blind. Quite an experience. Years later, on a moments notice Woody would help out at the Seaford Museum. He was one of a kind. I loved him. Janet Jones
