John Cahall Obituary

1919-2015 John Linwood Cahall, age 96, of Linwood, PA died peacefully on March 11, 2015 surrounded by his loving family at home. Born in Goldsboro, MD, he resided most of his life in Linwood, PA. The oldest of 8 boys, he left school in the 7th grade to help his family financially. An intelligent man, he schooled himself by reading and studying, then at age 63, went for and received his GED. Mr. Cahall served in the National Guard and U.S. Army during WWII in Panama and Germany in the 14th Armored Division. He retired from Crozer Chester Medical Center after 25 years of service in 1994 where he was Sergeant of Security. Known by many as “Linwood”, he was a caring, giving person who will be sadly missed by family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. There were special bonds with all of them. He was a lifetime member of the Lower Chichester Fire Co., the American Legion, Ogden Post 951 and a Mason with the Chester Lodge 236 F&AM. In addition to his parents, Edgar and Pearl Cahall, he is preceded in death by his wife, Margie Flowers Cahall who died in 2001, a granddaughter, Stephanie Callaway as well a 6 brothers and a sister. He is survived by his 3 daughters, Charlotte “Dottie” Wasmundski (Fran), Linda Cahall-Graham (Art), and Sharon Short (John Baglione), brothers, Richard and Leroy Cahall, grandchildren, Rick, Melanie, Melissa, Lewis and Dana, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, 11:00AM at the Moreland-Pagano Funeral Home, 825 Main St., Trainer, PA where friends may call from 10-11AM. Interment, Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA. The family extends a heart-felt thank you to Ozzie, Joan, Kaitlyn and others from the Crozer Keystone Hospice who cared for him and put together a lifetime remembrance for his 96th birthday.
