I worked for Peter as a teenager in the 60´s. Whenever he paid me he always slipped a little something extra in toward my college fund. He was such a sweet man and became friends with my whole family. I loved him dearly and he is missed.

My heartfelt condolances to the Livadas Family. Our prayers and thoughts are with you at this sad time. Peter had quite a hard journey as many Greeks did who came here. Yet it was an inspiration to here his story, which mirrored so many of our own experiences. I will always remember him bringing those delicious chocolates at Easter time for my children to our home. They still remember this to this day. He will always be in our memories. Thanks Peter to those special times, we will never forget.

Peter was a sweet wonderful man. He gave me my first job when I was 16 (43 years ago) and always put a little something extra in my pay envelope toward my college fund. When I graduated from high school he held my party at the old diner on Clinton Ave. He was a wonderful friend. My sympathy to his family. He will be missed.

My condolences to the Livadas family.
My name is Mary and I live in Los Angeles, CA. Yes, this is a long way from Rochester New York, but my cousin Jeanne, who lives in Rochester, would send my Mom (her Aunt) a heart shaped box of Mr. Livadas candy every Valentine's Day. It was such a wonderful treat for my Mom who was clearly and proudly a chocoholic. Sadly for us, my Mom passed away last December. She was 91.
My cousin Jeanne called me yesterday to tell me that the wonderful man who created the candy that went cross country to California for my Mom, just passed away.
I read online, the journey of Mr. Livadas from Greece to the United States and I found myself so touched by his life experiences. What a rich, full life of struggles and triumphs.
Thank you to Peter Livadas and his family for the candy that made it's way to my Mom in California.
My thoughts are with the family at this time of loss.

To the family of Peter: We were so very sorry to read of Peter's passing. We stopped by to have dinner a couple of weeks ago, and he was outside working on the fence. He always had a smile on his face; and was a wonderful man. Be in peace in the knowledge that he is looking down at the family from above. Bob Carpenter.

The world just became a little less sweeter, now that Peter is gone! I knew Peter for many years as a customer of his restaurant and then Sweet Shop and he was always "Top Shelf". My thoughts and prayers go to his family at this time but knowing you must have many wonderful memories that nothing can take away will help through this difficult time.

I went to Peter's Sweet Shop when it was on the corner of S Clinton and Meigs Strweet, as did so many of my friends who were rehearsing with Rochester Community Player's Teen Theatre and later on, as an adult too. I also remember that after many years of not going there, I ran into him and he remembered me. What a wonderful man he was.

It's hard to put into words what my Father-In-Law meant to me.If you have seen the movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding"- that sort of captured our relationship.I was the outsider and Dad was the loveable carmudgeon whom I have grown to adore along with the Greek culture. To say he cherished his family is an understatement. He lived the American dream and set the bar high as an example of how hard work pays off. Behind the sometimes gruff exterior belied his soft heart like the marshmallo creams he created. He was always gracious & tender to me. I will miss him but I treasure the love we grew to have for each other.

I first met Peter when he opened his restaurant and candy store on South Clinton Ave. in 1967. I worked just down the street at the sporting goods store. I remember how proud he was when he opened his new building across the street from the old one in the 1970s. At either location Peter's Sweet Shop became a place that we could go to get away from the hustle and bustle of work. Peter always greeted you with a friendly hello and a smile. He was loved and respected by the entire Swillburg neighborhood. My deepest sympathy to the family.

Anthoula, Jerry, Greg and family, We will miss getting together with Uncle Pete (Nouno) at family functions. We could always count on him for a laugh, stimulating conversation, and of course, Peter's Homemade Chocolates! Those memories and laughs will be with us forever. He so much enjoyed being together with friends and family. He was a true patriarch, a great man and will truly be missed. May his memory be eternal. Love,
Linda

Greg: The winds have welcomed a great man with kindness. One who loved us all and who was the best example of a life well-lived. I loved the time spent with him and Anthoula during the ballooning trips and at the candy store. His memory will always be cherished.

I was very sad to hear about my Godfather. I fondly recall visiting his restaurant back in the 80's with my dad. When my father passed away suddenly, at a young age, Nuno was there for me. In recent years, we reconnected when I would stop into his store with my wife and children. I am so grateful that my two oldest had the chance to meet my Nuno. They, too felt his love. I will always cherish his sweet nature and wisdom. Thinking of you all. Chris Solomou

I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Peter. I work at the South Wedge Diner on the weekends and it was always a delight to see him come into the diner for coffee. I enjoyed listening to his stories. He would always give me advice. I also enjoyed going downstairs to get supplies for the diner and having his door to the candy shop open and chatting with him while he made his wonderful chocolates. I just talked to Peter on Saturday and am in shock of his passing. My deepest sympathies with the family, Peter was a great man.

Greg, Jerry and Family,
My deepest sympathy. One of many funny memories I have of your dad is the night he appeared at my door with a story that his car broke down. The fun times going to the Candy Store at Easter with the great nieces and getting a special tour of the candy kitchen in the basement. You'll always have your own wonderful memories in your hearts of your Dad. Peter I will miss you.
