Dear Mrs. Buckner, Children and family. I recently learned of Mr. Buckner's passing. I can't express enough in words how deeply sorry I am to know that my Mentor, my Hero and my Biggest Fan who influenced my life in the most caring, loving and positive way is gone and way too soon. I've known Mr Buckner since 6th grade, 1975. He taught me to be strong, to be courageous, to work hard and to never quit what my passions were. He taught me to be the best person I could be. When I graduated middle school I was so afraid to go to high school. He wasn't going to be there for me anymore, but little did I know that Mr Buckner and my parents decided to keep it a surprise that he was going to be the new assistant principal at Smoky Hill. I was so elated with joy when he came to my first class and told me his new position. He knew my family very well and he was once again my biggest fan all through high school. Mr. Buckner had this special gift of making every student feel good about themselves and as for me, he guided me and taught me so much more than just academics, he taught me life lessons that i live by to this day. I will say, and I'm sure that i speak for many students than just myself, but I was the principles pet, instead of teachers pet, true story. ;) Although Mr. Buckner taught me so much, he also let me get away with a lot and I mean A LOT! LOL I have so many wonderful memories and stories I remember to this day, almost 40 years later. I will never forget you and may you rest peacefully in the Lord's arms. And for you Mrs Buckner and your children, I'm sorry for your loss,. You had a remarkable husband and father. May you find solace in God's name and remembering all your cherished and happy memories of your times together.
God Bless you.and walk with you through this time and always.
Sincerely,
Adriene (peanut)

John was a kind, gentle man who supported every educational decision I made while I was teaching at Overland... I will never forget him ...

To the Buckner Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time in your lives. The great arms that stretched out on Calvary, are the same great arms that are able to hold you all and comfort you like no other. Remember, "The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms." Deut. 33:27
May our Father's peace rest upon you all.
