Dr. James H. Pearce Jr., retired endodontist, age 90 died January 31, 2021.

James Pearce was born August 28, 1930 in Dallas, Texas, son of James H. Pearce of Arkadelphia, Arkansas and Mary Kate Ballard of Mobile, Alabama. He Married Barbara Catherine Ford of Wilmette, Illinois in 1955. A 1955 graduate of Northwestern University Dental School, Dr. Pearce served two years in the Dental Corps of the U.S. Air Force, then practiced privately in Denver until 1990.

Dr. Pearce was a past president of the Colorado Dental Association, the Rocky Mountain Dental Study Club and the Denver Dental Forum. He served as a trustee of the American Dental Association and as the director of the National Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped (now Dental Lifeline). He was a national presenter in endodontics and a perennial instructor in the Metro Denver Dental Society (MDDS) Study Club program. Honors included the Honus Maximus Award by Metropolitan Denver Dental Society, Colorado Dental Association Distinguished Service Award and Honorary Alumnus of the Colorado University School of Dentistry.

Jim was a loving husband and father who greatly enjoyed his family, golf, skiing, Friday mornings at Downing House, winters in Arizona and annual family reunions at YMCA of the Rockies.

Pearce is survived by his wife, Catherine, five children, James III (Simi Werfeli) of Bothell, Washington, Robert (Margie Muraik) of Madison, Wisconsin, Nancy Holliday (Jeff) of Centennial, Colorado, Deborah Will (Rick) of Centennial, Colorado, Joanne Davidson (Tom) of Denver, Colorado and 16 grandchildren and soon to be 14 great grandchildren, as well as by one sister and two brothers.

A funeral mass will be held to honor Jim's life and be limited to family. During this difficult time of COVID-19, please celebrate Jim's life celebrating life with your loved ones. Contributions may be made to the Dental Lifeline 1800 15th St. Denver, Colorado 80202

Dear Aunt Cathy and cousins,

We were sorry to learn of Uncle Jim’s passing, but happy to know (through my dad) that he made the transition surrounded by love. We hope that you are able to continue celebrating his life and his fine example. Fond memories of Denver, Estes, and Amarillo.
