Benjamin Woodard Obituary

Benjamin Thomas Woodard died unexpectedly on March 4, 2004, at home in Golden, Colorado. Born in Boulder, he grew up in Denver and attended Colorado Academy through his junior year when he left for Johns Hopkins University, where he trained as an organic chemist. Upon graduation, he continued graduate training at Johns Hopkins University, then post-doctoral training at the University of California, Berkeley, after which he returned to Colorado as a research scientist at Array BioPharma in Boulder. In addition to his wife, Laura, and his son Linus, Dr. Woodard is survived by his mother and stepfather, Helen and Robert Woodard of Lakewood; his father, Benjamin Cordova of Sheridan; his grandparents, Thomas and Edna Moore of Grand Junction; his grandmother, Maria Adela Cordova of Denver; and his parents-in-law, William and Linda Vigor of Lakewood; he will be missed terribly by all. Ben lived life passionately: a talented chemist, accomplished cook, voracious reader, adventurous traveler. His interests ranged from science to history to philosophy to art and culture; he attacked each new challenge with unequalled gusto. Trained as a scientist, he was looking forward to attending business school in the fall. He was a devoted father, loving husband, faithful son, generous friend –a truly unique individual who will be sorely missed. The memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Lionsgate Event Center Gatehouse, 1055 South Hwy 287, Lafayette, CO; reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Linus Woodard Education Fund at Alpine Bank, 225 N. 5th St. Grand Junction, CO 81501, Attn: Tara.
