Leon Richard Sheya

Leon Richard Sheya 1925 ~ 2005 Leon Richard Sheya, husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully August 15, 2005 at his home, supported by family and caring friends. He died of complications from diabetes. He was born September 5, 1925 in Provo, Utah where he spent the first few years of his life. His family later moved to Salt Lake City where he graduated from East High School. After volunteering for duty in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and serving as a navigator on B-29s, Leon graduated from the University of Utah. He married Patricia Bartz in 1950 and had five children. He was a man of high integrity, a true family man and an astute businessman, starting and running a mechanical contracting company named Rocky Mountain Refrigeration. He and Pat loved the outdoors, and had many adventures with their family, from hunting and fishing trips, to water skiing and white water rafting. His love of family and sense of adventure lives on in his children. Leon retired in 1978 after selling his successful business. He and Pat built a house in Mexico overlooking San Carlos Bay where they spent the winter months. They relished their time spent on the Sea of Cortez. Leon is survived by his wife of many years, Pat; and their five children, Richard, Sharon, Paul, Sue Anne, and Cynthia; eight grandchildren; and his sole surviving sibling, his younger brother, Larry. As per his wishes there will be no formal funeral, rather a private gathering of family and friends.
