Darrel Gramenz Obituary

Darrel Gramenz
Darrel Gene Gramenz, passed away at his home on Dec. 23, 2010. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Barstow. Darrel was born in Moline, Illinois on April 13, 1929, to Walter August Gramenz and Ina Elizabeth Salisbury Gramenz.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gloria Baca Gramenz; daughter, Terry Ann and husband, Ron Touchstone; son, Mark and wife, Scheri Gramenz; daughters, Deborah Jean and husband, John Lambert, Danette Elagha, Tracy Jo and husband, Michael Jaco; brother Duane and wife, Shirley Gramenz; sister, Mary Jo Baker; and 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Darrel worked for the Railway Express Company for 12 years, then worked for the San Bernardino County Assessor's Office from which he retired as a Supervising Assessor at the Barstow Office after 30 years. He served as a member of the Barstow Planning Commission for 24 years, and was a lifetime member of the Barstow Chapter of the Knights of Columbus. He had a great love for and ongoing interest in Barstow Community College from which he received an AA degree. He served as a member of the Parish Council and the Finance Committee of St. Joseph Catholic Church for several years and was active in various ministries. He was also an active member of the Sunday Scripture Study group.
A viewing will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010 with a Rosary following at 7 p.m. A Celebration of Life Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010 at 11 a.m. All services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 505 E. Mt. View.

Mrs. Gramenz and Family:
I have many, many good memories of Darrel (he would always say spelled with two r's one l) at work, on Planning Commission outings and time he spent with my dad. As long as he is in your thoughts and memories he is always with you. By the way, he passed the same day my Dad did.
