I just found out about Dimitar's death yesterday. We weren't in Ajijic last winter, or I would have known. I took lessons from him for three or four years here in Ajijic and have several of his paintings. He was a great artist. I will miss him.

I am so sorry to here of Dimitar's death. I have a painting of his, gifted to me by my parents, and wanted so much to hear more about it. He was so gifted and showed so much emotion and understanding of his subject matter. I know he was special. I just wish I could have met him.

Helen, I am so sorry to hear of Dimitar's passing. I still speak fondly of him to my family and tell my children about our adventures in the jungle. I treasure my time spent with him and think of him when I paint. God bless.

This could be the second attempt to send a message. I think I lost the first one. Jeff and I were so sadden to hear of Dimitar's passing. We would love to hear from you. We both have fond memories of our friendship with the two of you. With love and admiration, Marijo and Jeff Starnes

I am sad to learn of Dimitar's passing...I too took classes in Newton and in Des Moines and even a trip to Ajijic to paint with him. He was a brilliant teacher and a delight to be with and has been greatly missed since permanently moving to Ajijic.

I picked up some watercolors today for the first time in years and it made me wonder about one of my favorite teachers, Dimitar Krustev. He inspired many of us to see things in new ways. It was a pleasure to have him a part of my formative years. Julie Gamack

I am so sorry to hear of Dimitar's passing. I came today to bring him and Helen a loaf of fresh rye bread from the Swedish baker and rang the bell to no answer, then stopped back again after running errands and again no answer. I didn't know that he had passed. I loved taking classes with Dimitar. He was a wonderful teacher and a delightful story teller. I will miss him. Fondly, Allenda

Dimitar Krustev was a favorite artist at Galeria Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for a number of years until he finally quit traveling. I will miss him greatly and still receive requests for his work, which now only remain some signed and numbered lithographs. His life was a great adventure and may he rest in peace. Barbara Peters

Dimitar did this potrait of my parents in 1989 while living in Iowa. We also have eight canvas works by Art Beniot an artist that was connected to Dimitar during this time of his life. Live Well - Die Well

So many years have passed since I studied with Dimitar. The memories and love of the portrait are still alive. Thanks to God for giving us such a remarkable soul.

I am sad to hear that Dimitar has left us. He was my inspiration in painting and living. He was passionate about art and life and taught us so much. My mom, Mary Zmolek, who passed away in 2010, loved Dimitar too. He gave her the encouragement she needed and brought a lightness to her and us all. I have always been grateful to have had the years of classes and talks. I have missed him over the years.
But I will never forget his words, his paintings, his enthusiasm and adventurous spirit with love.

My heart is full of sorrow after hearing about Dimitar's passing. I remember when I first met Dimitar at the Lake Chapala Society in Ajijic. Dimitar was a great person and artist and his presentation on Art through the Ages was most memorable. Thinking of you with sympathy. Barbara Hilton
