Fort Myers
Wayne Simmer, 72, of Fort Myers, FL died January 30, 2015, from complications of multiple myeloma. He was born to the late Leroy and Erna Simmer on November 18, 1942. Wayne graduated from Linden, IA high school and then received his accounting degree and CPA from Drake University. He married Toni Friday in 1998. They lived in Clive, IA, where they still maintain a home, but became Florida residents in 2010.
Wayne practiced accounting up until 1978, when he purchased Des Moines Bolt Supply. He officially retired December 2012, leaving his children to run the business.
Wayne was a member of Gloria Dei Church in Urbandale, IA, plus Saint Michael Lutheran Church in Fort Myers, FL. He belonged to Des Moines Golf & Country Club and Gulf Harbour Golf & Country Club in Fort Myers.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Toni, sister, JoAnne Huggins, mother-in-law, Betty Friday, brother-in-law, Tim (Deb) Friday, plus four children: Stacey (Dave) Lyman, Steffaney (Brad) Cronin, Kent (Rich Reese) Simmer and Keven (Jessica) Simmer. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barb Coleman.
At Wayne's request there will be no services. Memorials can be sent to the American Cancer Society.

Wayne Simmer was an outstanding businessman, a provident father, a perfect partner for his wife Toni, a good friend, and he lived a model of what a quintisentially American life can be at its best. Working or playing, each day was a glass more than half full, and his positive personality made him a companion his friends treasured. My condolences to Toni and his immediate family for this loss. I will really miss my friend Wayne Simmer. RIP.
