GERALD ANDERSON Obituary

71, of Naples, Florida and Clarkston, Michigan, died peacefully in his sleep on May 22, 2004, at his home in Naples. He was born September 23, 1932 in Lapeer, MI to the late Lloyd Luther and Madelyn Kingsbury Anderson. Survived by his wife JoAnn (Legge). Father of two sons, the late Ray Michael Anderson, John Lloyd Anderson of Coloma, MI, and one daughter, Mary Jane (Jeff) Hiestand of Naples, FL. Stepfather to Eric (Rhonda) Steinhelper of Waterford. Brother of Edwin Dean (Shirley) Anderson of Greenville, South Carolina and Karen (David) Bishop of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Also survived by his mother-in-law, Florence Legge of Waterford. Jerry had three loving grandchildren, Glenn Michael Anderson, Taylor and Shelby Steinhelper, as well as several nieces, nephews and their children. Jerry served in the US Navy from 1952 to 1955. A realtor, real estate developer, real estate appraiser and consultant, Jerry served on many boards and represented clients throughout Michigan in eminent domain proceedings. An avid golfer and gin rummy player, Jerry belonged to Forest Lake Country Club (Bloomfield Hills) since 1974, and Imperial Golf Club (Naples) since 1989. He also loved to read books on a variety of subjects and traveled extensively. Funeral service Wednesday, May 26, 2004, 11 a.m., at First Congregational Church of Clarkston (5449 Clarkston Road, 1/2 Mi. E of Sashabaw, Clarkston). Family will receive friends at Coats Funeral Home, Waterford, Tuesday 3-9 p.m. and again at the Church on Wednesday 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association or National MPS Society (a disease afflicting children), P.O. Box 736, Bangor, Maine 04402-0736.
