Roy Tarpley Obituary

One of the most gifted and ultimately tragic talents in NBA history has died. Former Dallas Mavericks big man Roy Tarpley, a terrific scorer and rebounder, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, in Arlington. He played forward and center positions, earning an NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award in 1988. Service: Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funerals and Cremations with all services being private. In 1985 Mr. Tarpley starred at the University of Michigan and was named a 3rd Team All American by The Associated Press in 1985 and 1986. He was selected by the Dallas Mavericks in the first round, with the seventh pick of the NBA draft. Additionally, he was awarded the NBA All-Rookie Team in 1987. "Our condolences go out to the family of Roy Tarpley. RIP, Roy. Mavs fans everywhere will remember you fondly." -- Mark Cuban

As a basketball fan of 80 plus years, I have never seen a big man with such gracefully movements. When he was well there was none better, without additions Tarp could have been the GOAT.
