Betty Fox Obituary

Betty L. Fox, passed away Monday, Jan. 2, 2017. Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Greenwood. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, Ft. Worth. Betty passed away quietly surrounded by family. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Children were her special loves, so doting on her children and grandchildren were her life's delight. In her later years, watching her great-granddaughter brought her tremendous joy. Betty was married to Marvin Fox for just under 60 years. She worked to support him through college in her home state of Indiana then moved to Fort Worth for Marvin's work. When her children entered school, Betty worked as an office manager for Farlow Insurance Agency in River Oaks, where she enjoyed the close friendship of her "boss." In her retirement, she volunteered at Harris Hospital for over 10 years. Betty and Marvin brought their children up in the River Oaks United Methodist Church where both served on many boards and committees. Betty was active in the Women's Society. They later joined First United Methodist Church, staying active in the Twosome Class where Betty enjoyed many close friendships. Betty was a fun-loving woman who enjoyed the simple things such as camping with her family and friends, sewing, volunteering, taking care of elderly neighbors and spending time with loved ones. Laughter surrounded her as she had a quick wit and loved practical jokes. She was organized, conscientious and hard working, but made everything look easy. Betty had deep values, especially humility and kindness. She lived a long and very happy life. Her family is both profoundly grateful for her life and profoundly saddened by her death. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin K. Fox. Survivors: Son, Tim Fox and wife, Frances and their children, Chris, Charlie and Chase; daughter, Rev. Linda McDermott and husband, Tom, and their children, Tim and wife, Emily, and Matthew; and one great-granddaughter, Molly.

So sorry for your loss! Betty was one of my mother's best friends at Town Village Ridgmar, and Mom has missed Betty terribly since moving to New Jersey this summer. Betty was always warm and welcoming when I came to visit, and everyone loved the Sunday services she brought from First Church every week.

Will never forget her wonderful personality and her love for her family. She was a good friend to our mom, Peggy Maurer. May God be with you all during this time.
