Judy Malinowski Obituary

Malinowski Judy A. Malinowski, age 33, born on August 26, 1983, peacefully left this world to be with her Lord and Savior on June 27, 2017 at St Ann's Hospital after a courageous and miraculous 23 month battle for her life. Judy graduated from New Albany High School, class of 2001, where she was crowned Miss New Albany and homecoming queen. She participated in numerous social and community activities. She went on to attend The Ohio State University. One of Judy's many gifts on earth was her ability to love all people unconditionally without judgment. Judy's passion and love for people made all those who knew her feel special. Her free spirit and quick wit would always put a smile on your face. Judy always put others needs before her own until the end. Judy was a victim of a horrendous domestic violence crime. Her case has inspired the change of legislation to extend sentences of criminals of felonious assault who have disfigured their victims. "Judy's law" is expected to be signed by the governor into law early next week, coinciding with the same week as her funeral. She was pivotal in the passage of this law by enduring excruciating pain to be able to testify in her own case. In spite of her extreme pain, her beautiful smile shined through her permanent scars, her disfigurement and her tears. Judy is preceded in death by father Thomas Hensel, grandparents Edward and Judy Still and Richard and Janet Hensel. She is survived by her two daughters "the colors of her heart", Kaylyn Malinowski and Madison Malinowski; her mother, Bonnie Bowes (Dan); her "Daddy", David Gorman (Sue); sister, Danielle Gorman; brother, Patrick Bowes; step brothers, Nicholas, Joseph and Mark Bowes: and grandmother, Patricia Gorman. Judy is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, all of whom she loved dearly. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of prayers, supports, and cards from around the world. A special thanks to the palliative care staff at St. Ann's and the SICU unit and burn team at The Ohio State University. Friends may call Sunday, July 2, from 2-5 p.m. at the Church of the Resurrection, 6300 E. Dublin Granville Rd., New Albany, OH 43054. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, July 3rd at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Resurrection followed by a burial service at Forest Lawn Cemetery, located at 5600 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH. A luncheon will be held at the church following the burial service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Go Fund Me page https://www.gofundme.com/hope-and-help-for-judy or the Huntington Bank Memorial Fund that was set up by NBC 4. The family also encourages any donations to be made to the domestic violence charity of their choice. Arrangements by EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 E. BROAD ST. I know Judys babies will one day see all the peoples lives their Mom touched. They'll one day read how many lives she saved with Judys Law and how phenomenally strong and brilliant she was. My heart breaks for Judy's family and loved ones. Judy was such an amazing woman who deserved an amazing life. Its women like Judy our young girls should idolize. The strength she had is unimaginable. She fought to stay alive for her babies for so long. They lost their Momma but they gained a guardian angel. I don't think even death could keep her away from taking care of her kids... She's still with them every moment

As I write this message after finding your beautiful obituary today Judy, more than 5 years after you´ve passed, and 23 messages left to date, I can´t help but think how that number will increase with the release of your story, The Fire That Took Her. I didn´t know you in person, but I watched the recording of your incredibly brave testimony and I´m honestly surprised I hadn´t heard of your story sooner, but I know that God´s timing is the right time in all things. Wow what purpose He had for you, and the legacy you leave with all of us for many generations and years to come! While my heart is absolutely devastated at what you went through and endured, including the massive loss your daughters and family must experience without your earthly presence, I´m completely awestruck at what you accomplished for all women and men that might be saved and spared because of your courage and strength to stand and make a difference in your darkest hour. How incredibly selfless, bold and empowering! How incredibly like Jesus!! I´m in absolute awe of you and your journey with Jesus to accomplish what you have done. Now that I know I will never forget you and your story. I will pray for and support your continued fight through your daughters and family who further your cause. Thank you for sharing your life struggles and triumphs with the world, we are better for it Judy, and you will be forever hailed a hero.

To the family of Judy Malinowski, my heartfelt prayers to you all. I to followed your story from NBC 4 and you were a true example of what we call a true fighter to the end. May God continue to bless your two beautiful daughters. May he give them the comfort they need the days ahead. To your mom, you will be so blessed for standing, fighting and supporting your daughter the way you did. Know that when Judy's Law becomes official that it will help so many people all because of you and Judy. May God continue to bless your entire family the days ahead.
