To the family of Coach Chickerella, I was so sorry to hear of the Coach's passing. I was a student at Linden McKinley when he was coach there. He always had a smile on his face and never had anything negative to say about anyone. Your family are in my thoughts and prayers. God bless.

Vince Chickerella coached my late husband Paul Grossman at Linden-McKinley in the 1960 in Basketball and Baseball. Paul always spoke so highly of him and we went to some of his games at Capital and Otterbein because he admired his coaching skills so. I'll bet they are having a great in Heaven going over old times!

I am so sorry for Coach's passing. He was a true mentor to so many of us. I was fortunate to have played and excelled under his guidence. Coach will always be remembered for not only his guidence, but his friendship of over fifty years.

I don't know if you remember me, but it's Denise Caldwell (Murray) . I lived across street from your family on Cheyenne Drive in Westerville Ohio. Andy use to play with Jimmy.
My husband also attended Linden McKinley High School.
I just heard this afternoon of your fathers passing and I just wanted to say I am so sorry and I was thinking of you.
I wanted to send you a card, but I had no idea where to send it.
I just wanted you to know I was thinking of you at this time, and hopeing that you can find some measure of comfort in the wonderful memories your father brought to many.

I remember Vince Chickerella at Linden McKinley HS during early 50's. I did not have him for a teacher, but everyone knew who he was.

Beryl and family,
I am thankful for my friendship with Vince. We are all aware of his many athletic achievements and accolades, but to me his true friendship was the biggest gift he gave to people. I enjoyed the many many hours we spent together playing golf, meeting for lunch and just visiting. It is my opinion anyone Vince called a friend was very fortunate. He will be missed and remembered. It was my distinct priviledge to share the radio/tv broadcast with Coach Chick in the late seventies and draw on his tremendous
knowledge of the game. Over those years, I became very close
to a man who shared his knowledge and friendship with
everyone. Vince made me a better broadcaster and friend. Ill

Beryl and family,
We are so so sorry to hear about Coach's passing, Dad just spoke to him a couple weeks ago about us getting together and playing golf with him. We are going to miss him so much, especially the golf days, he was my golf partner and we always got the best of our opponents. He always came through on the golf course as he did in life for people. I started playing golf with him at age 16. Coach and Dad hit it off like brothers and dominated the 2 men Riviera golf league on Thursday nights in the 90's. We loved Coach very much and will miss him immensely. Our prayers are with you at this time.

Beryl, Mark, Jackie, Molly, Lindsay, Tom, Rene and Ann. We were so sorry to hear of "Pa Chick's" passing. He was truly a great man on all levels. All of the awards and accolades, in addition to being a wonderful, husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed greatly. May you find comfort in your memories.

I did not have the pleasure of playing for Coach Chick but I heard so much about him. As far as I am concerned he is the "Godfather", the one that got it all started at Linden. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Hi, my name is Ron Southall and Vince was the football coach when I went to Linden McKinley. My family knew him when he lived on 20th Ave. back in the late 40s to early 50s. We lived next door to each other. He was a good neighbor, as I recall an d I am sure he will be missed by family, friends and co-workers alike.

Chick was a great competitor and opponent. It was a pleasure to watch one of the greatest basketball games in Central Ohio history - Eastmoor's 73-71 triple overtime win over Chick and his 1965 Linden team that gave EM its first District title. A classic that is still talked about today. Chick was an adversary to be respected.

You will be missed. As a former player at Linden McKinley on the 67 State Championship team we had a great ride. I learnt alot from you that year and in 68 on what it takes to be a champion at any level. Lessons i have used my entire life.

Coach Chickerella was my eighth grade history teacher at Linden McKinley in 1953 if I counted back the years correctly. We enjoyed him and his class a lot. He was a great teacher, coach, friend to the class. Saw him about our 40th class reunion at the Harley Hotel. He married my shorthand teacher, Ann, later when I was a Senior, and took a refresher shorthand class. I remember they dressed the little girls as Cheerleaders at the basketball games. They were very small. We followed his coaching at Capital and have many, many fond memories of Coach Chickerella. He will be with his son now in a place we shall all meet again before long. I only met Vince on a couple of family occasions, but he had a dynamic personality that was hard to forget.
When you lose someone like that you sometimes don't realize how much they touched your life until they are gone.

Aunt Beryl, Jan, Tom and the rest of the family,
Words cannot express how deeply saddened I am by the news of Uncle Vince's passing. He had a passion for life that is so often lacking in this day and age. I remember fondly going to his Hilliard games with Poppy and every family gathering at your house. Every time I saw him he had a smile and a joke ready which always left me smiling as well. He was a wonderful part of our family and he will always hold a special place in my heart.

Vince had a fiery disposition to win. Adolph Rupp was an advocate of winning as so many first class coaches were and are. I was honored to know him and play softball with him in our later years. He simply gave it all as he expected his players to do. He knew the games he was involved in so well. God bless Vince's soul and bring comfort to his loved ones.
