Dr. Charles Meckstroth was respected all through his career. But I got to know him best in our retirement time when RMH doctors gathered for lunch at OSU golf course the past few years. I miss him greatly already. We discussed anything and everything. A wonderful guy.

From the bottom of our hearts we send our deepest sympathy to your family. Our neighborhood and community have lost a wonderful man. He exemplified what it meant to follow your passions, and to do so with gusto. He and Emily were always so welcoming, and would enthusiastically invite us in to share stories, inquire about the kids, view ducks and dollhouses, and any number of projects. We will remember him most for his quick wit, intellect, integrity, and ability to make nearly every moment a teaching one. So many stories! And Doc had his soft side: If our dog Griffey were still around, he'd say he missed the dog bones Doc carried in his pockets on his 3x daily walks with Emily or the treats he would sneak to him out of their garage (much to Emily's chagrin). It took us a while to figure out why he always headed that way when we let him out. We will miss Dr. Meckstroth and are honored that we knew him.

I just now learned of Dr Meckstroth’s passing from the North High School Alumni page. I did not realize he had graduated from the same high school as I had. I am saddened to learn of his passing. I remember Dr. Meckstroth from my days as a nurse on the thoracic surgery unit at University Hospital back in the early 70’s. I recall his sense of humor when giving home going advice to one of his patients. The patient and I both laughed. Susan and I graduated in the same class from OSU’s School of Nursing, Class of 1972. My condolences to the family on their loss of this great man.
Blessings~

Will Rogers said, "We can't all be heroes. Most of us stand on the sidewalk and cheer as the heroes go by." I am cheering for this man.

Both Charles and Emily were such nice neighbors. I always enjoyed visiting with them at the 4th of July block parties and when they took their walks past my house. I am glad they are back together again.
