Alaria Jean Burks

BURKS Alaria Jean Burks, age 58, of Delaware, formerly of Columbus, died Saturday, March 28, 2009 at her home. She was born in Columbus on September 19, 1950 to Rubie (Holbein) and Lawrence Snowden. She attended Linden-McKinley High School and she attended universities in Germany and Kentucky before graduating from OSU. She received her masters in Computer Science from OSU and was working on a masters in Theology at The Pontifical Josephinum. She was employed by Shared Resources in Columbus as a Computer Programmer. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and previously St. Brendan in Dublin. Alaria was a special woman who regardless of her circumstances accomplished what she set out to do making an inspirational testament of her life reflected in her sacrifice and love of her children and grandson. She is survived by her beloved family, her mother, Rubie Garrison; two sons, Freddy (Jenifer) and Bryan Burks; her grandson, Andrew "Tweety Pie"; two brothers; one sister; and a half-sister; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, grandparents, several great aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday 5-8 p.m. at ROBINSON FUNERAL HOME where a prayer vigil will be held at 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
