R. Pattison Obituary

Pattison, R. Keith
R. Keith Pattison, D.O., age 67, died on January 3, 2019 in Columbus, Ohio, where he lived and worked for over 30 years. Born in Cambridge, Ohio to the late H. Elliott Pattison and Marjorie I. Pattison he graduated from Cambridge High School in 1969. He earned his bachelor's degree from Ohio Northern University where he met his wife of 44 years, Gayle Susan Pattison, and was an active member of the Kappa Psi fraternity. Keith went on to obtain his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from the College of Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa. He completed his internal medicine residency at Grandview Hospital in Dayton, Ohio before pursuing a cardiology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. For 33 years he practiced as an interventional cardiologist in Columbus where he cared for patients at Doctor's Hospital, Grant Hospital, and Mount Carmel West. He is survived by his wife, Gayle; his brother, Kent Lee (Linda) Pattison; and his children, Zachary Lee (Krista) Pattison, D.O. and Jillian Lee Pattison, D.O. (Jonathan Wood). While Keith was a trained physician he was, at his core, a teacher and extraordinary father. Second only to his family and seeing his children graduate from medical school, his greatest joy came from an endless number of outdoor projects. He was never still for long; taking the dogs for bike rides, clearing paths in the woods, building bridges and treehouses, tending his apple orchard, maintaining the Pattison Disc Golf Course. Anyone who knew Keith understood his love of all games. Whether it was Risk, cornhole, pinball, ping-pong, pool, or euchre, he loved competition and the opportunity to spend time with family and friends. Keith was a caring physician, a kid at heart, and remains the greatest father, friend, and husband his family could have imagined. A private burial was held for Keith in his hometown of Cambridge, Ohio with a planned celebration of his life for family and friends in Spring, 2019. The family requests any memorials be directed to the Liberty Township Bike Trails fund for which donations can be designated via the Delaware County Foundation website (www.delawarecf.org) and clicking on the "Donate Now" button.

Dear Gayle
I am so sorry and shocked to hear of Keith's passing. I just found out today 12/11. He was such a good friend. We would get together at the OOA conventions and share stories of our times together. I hope you and your family are transitioning through the grieving process as best possible. This will be your first Christmas without Keith. The first holidays are always the hard ones. I have worked with families to go through the transition having lost a loved one as a coach/guide.
Connie and my heart goes out to you and your family during this time of loss.

Dear Gayle and family,
I knew Keith since he started Cardiology in Columbus. He immediately impressed me with his knowledge and how complete he was in his work. I always knew my patients would get a thorough evaluation by him. When I needed a cardiologist I went to see him and so did my wife and mother later on. For me he was the best in his field. He was so professional and caring and he knew not just cardiology but medicine in general. Columbus has lost a wonderful doctor.

Heartfelt condolences to his wife and family on this tremendous loss. I was one of the MANY fortunate students and residents who trained w/Dr Pattison. What a brilliant cardiologist and exceptional teacher to residents as well as his patients and their families. He will be sorely missed in medical community as well as by SO many patients, friends and family.
What a truly bright light in this world who did SO MANY GOOD WORKS!

Gayle, I was very sorry to hear about Keith. My sincere condolences to you and your family.

I was so saddened to hear of Keith's passing from a church member this past Sunday who is a friend of Keith's brother Kent. Keith was a friend and classmate of mine from high school in Cambridge where we graduated. He escorted me when I was on the homecoming court our senior year and we shared classes together. After we graduated, we all went our separate ways.

My heart goes out to Keith's wife and his family.

Gayle and family. I was shocked and sadden to hear of Keith's passing. He was a great guy and I am so sorry that we fell out of touch. We were room mates our Freshman year at ONU and I enjoyed his company and friendship very much. I realize that this is a difficult time for you but I am sure you have great memories to keep you going.

Dear Gayle and family:

It was such a shock to Lynne and I when we learned of Keith's passing, especially at such a young age. I will always remember Keith as a fine and brilliant Cardiologist and person. Keith was my very first rotation during my internship at Doctors Hospital right after he completed his fellowship in Cardiology at The Cleveland Clinic. He was so full of cardiovascular information and willing to teach. He was very generous with his time and knowledge. He made a very positive influence on my life and medical career. We frequently referred our patients to him and his evaluations and treatments were always spot on. I could always trust him to give excellent care to my patients. Please accept our deepest condolences. We have lost a great man. He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.
