Philip H. Ryerson

RYERSON Philip H. Ryerson, age 93, died peacefully on Monday, June 7, 2010. Preceded in death by his wife Martha L. Ryerson and by his sons Michael Lawrence Ryerson and David Wesley Ryerson. Survived by four nieces and a nephew. Phil was active in the field of aeronautical engineering for 11 years before joining Battelle Memorial Institute in 1949. He retired from Battelle in 1980. Friends may make contributions to the Summit United Methodist Church where Phil was a loyal member. Phil was a truly gentle man who will be missed by his caregivers, friends and family. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2010, in the chapel of Westminster-Thurber Retirement Community, 645 Neil Avenue, Columbus, Ohio. Rev. Grayson Atha and Chaplin Mark Arni officiating. In keeping with Phil's desire for simplicity, there will be no calling hours. Private Christian Burial service will be at the Union Cemetery. Arrangements are being made by the WEIR-AREND FUNERAL HOME.
