In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Jill
We regret that we cannot be at Mike's funeral as we are in Canada. Our thoughts are with you at this time. Having known Mike since he was with the bank, I can remember the joy he experienced when he joined the fire department. It was second only to the joy he felt in his love for his family.

Jill,

I heard of Mike's passing yesterday. I am sorry that I can not attend the funeral but I have recently have had surgery that will prevent me from traveling.

I emailed Mike about a week after Christmas and when I did not hear anything I was going to call to see what was up and now I know.

When I was in Springfield in early October Mike and I ate lunch and had a long talk. At that time he seemed very down because of his bicycle accident and his failing health. He was very realistic and I wish then that I would have realized that that was the last time that I would see him.

I just want you to know that I will miss Mike. I considered him a good friend and person. Kathy and I will say a prayer and I just want you to know that we share your grief.

If there is anything that I can do, please don't hesitate to call. Again, you have my sympathies.

I am deeply saddened by Mike's death. In coming into contact with him both professionally and personally over the years, I found him to be a tremendous asset to the community, a credit to the Fire-Rescue Division and a truly remarkable human being. He will be greatly missed, but I hope the way he led his life will serve as an inspiration to many.
