I am saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. Crawford. He was one of my favorite professors I ever had through three degrees (I graduated from MTSU in 1992). My pipe smoking even extends to his influence. He always seemed like the quintessential college professor and his classes "felt" like college classes should. "French Revolution & Napoleon" in May intercession was the most fantastic course I ever took, and forms the lens through which even today I view the late 18th and early 19th century. I still recall a bawdy limerick he taught me, although my wife implores me to have the decency to refrain from repeating it here. Dr. Crawford's example both in the classroom and, more importantly, in the personal relationships he cultivated with students serve as the standard by which I gauge my own efforts as a professor.

Dr. Crawford will always remain fondly in my heart.

Offering my condolences. As you remember your love one, as Almighty God heals your broken hearts, may your treasured memories bring you peace, comfort, and strength to endure. (Psalm 147:3)
