Freya Miller Obituary

Freya Miller

Murfreesboro - On Tuesday, September 1, 2020, Freya Bandy Miller, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 75.

Freya was born on October 13, 1944 (Yes, it was a Friday!) in Murfreesboro, TN to Lewis and Lillian Bandy. She graduated from Central High School and attended MTSU. It was at MTSU that she met and fell in love with Andrew Woodfin "Woody" Miller. They were married in 1963 and had two sons, Andrew Woodfin Miller, Jr. and Tracy Lewis Miller.

Freya was born mischievous, fun loving, and full of life and stayed that way until the very end. She loved deeply, had an infectious smile, and a wicked sense of humor.

She was a wonderful and fun mother and neighborhood children always knew that she made her home and care available to them as well.

She loved playing bridge with her dear friends and was rarely caught cheating.

Freya was preceded in death by Woody only by one year. She is survived by her sisters, Carole, Janet, and Susan; her sons and daughters-in-law, Andy and Tami Miller and Tracy and Cyndi Miller; her grandsons, Andrew and Daniel Miller; granddaughters, Brittany McCurdy and her husband Colin and Lilly Moore and her husband Matthew; and two great-grandchildren, Jamison and Eilie McCurdy.

Visitation with the family will be Sunday, September 6, 2020 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 6, 2020 at 1:00pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

An online guestbook is available for the family at www.woodfinchapel.com. Woodfin Memorial Chapel (615) 893-5151

I enjoyed getting to know Freya over the past few years. Her smile always lit up the room. I deeply appreciate the kindness she extended to my father, and she was always lifting him up. My thoughts and prayers go out to all.

I knew Freya socially back in the day when Murfreesboro was a small town. I didn’t know her well, but after reading some of the comments from those who knew her well, I wish I had known her better. We saw each other from time to time over the years and she was always gracious and remembered earlier times.

Andy and Tracy went to Reeves-Rogers elementary school with my children, although Tracy was younger and we didn’t get to know him until 10 or more years ago.
Tracy and Cyndi have become precious friends.

Jay and I grieve for all the family members on losing a beloved parent.

I have happy, childhood memories of Freya. She was a close neighbor and a friend, as we went through grammar school together. Her father would always share the family vacations, he filmed, of many different places they would visit. Our family got a new born puppy (Jet) from them. I think it was my sister, Recee, who brought home the puppy that she got from Freya's sister, Janet. Rest in peace Freya.

Yes, Freya was always full of life, fun loving and definitely a wicked sense of humor. She was downright devious in her banter with her mother, Lillian, when selecting fixtures for her house at Neals Lighting. We shared a few good memories and so sorry to hear of her passing.

What a beautiful obituary for Freya.. our relationship spans 6 decades or more . We travelled, played bridge, Golf at SRCC
( better at bridge), raised kids(thanks Tracey and Andy), cruised , gambled a bit,. Shared tears and life ...and many Florida vacations. She was “0ne of a Kind”.... I will miss my mischievous, outspoken friend !❤❤Angie Smith
