Keith Smith Obituary

Keith Lynn Smith

Keith Lynn Smith, age 55, died at the VA Hospital in Nashville on Saturday, September 24, 2011. He was a 23-year heart transplant recipient.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Selvin Smith, Jr. and Charlene Hicks Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Ann Green Smith and daughter, Jennifer Lynn Smith of Fayetteville, TN; son, David Charles Smith of Tupelo, MS; sister, Karen Ann Smith Demonbreum (Tim) and nieces, Kelly Diana Trowbridge (Joey) and Kasey Darlene Gregory (Josh), all of Murfreesboro. He is also survived by devoted stepmother, Stella Smith, also of Murfreesboro.

He was a Navy veteran, serving on the Sturgeon-class attack nuclear submarine USS Lapon. After his Naval career and surgical recovery, he worked for Bartlett Co. as a senior health physics technician at nuclear plants.

In Keith's memory, we encourage everyone to learn more about organ donation and make the choice to give the gift of life. Make sure your loved ones know of your decision. Because of someone's selfless donation following a terrible tragedy, Keith got to see his children grow up.

Private services were held with immediate family.
