Ruth Riley Moyer

Ruth Riley Moyer, 80, of Hibbing passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at home after a courageous six and a half year battle with cancer on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007. She was born Oct. 13, 1926 in Philadelphia, Penn., the daughter of Christian and Emily Riley. She received training in the Radiology Technician Program at the Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia. She was employed at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia in the Radiology Department as the Head X-ray Tech and supervisor. She married Richard Moyer on Oct. 12, 1957 in Syracuse, N.Y.; and their honeymoon was spent hunting ducks. After Richard finished his service in the U.S. Army, Ruth and Richard traveled in a van for six months searching for a place to settle. Their travels brought them from Alaska to Colorado. They settled in Hibbing in January of 1960, where she became a friend to all. Ruth was very active in PEO Chapter DE and was a past president. She was also involved in Bridge Club, Wednesday Ladies Group; she was a very active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, its choir and women's groups; she delivered meals on wheels, and was a member of the Women's Investment Group. She was twice Minnesota State Ladies Trapshooting Champion. She enjoyed her roses; gardening, and tennis. She also enjoyed astronomy and marveling at the vastness and beauty of God's creation. Ruth cherished spending time at the lake with family and traveling; she was always up for new adventures. She was a woman of strong faith, who will be remembered as a beloved wife, mom, grandma and friend to all she met. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Robert who died in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Ruth is survived by her husband, Dr. Richard Moyer; daughters, Dr. Susan (Dr. Jon) Rudberg and Dr. Nancy (Hugh 'Luke' Hultman); son, Dr. David (Patty) Moyer all of Hibbing; grandchildren, Kristen, Andy, and Kathleen Rudberg, and Kaytlin, Mayghann, and Jessy Moyer, and Chelsea Hultman; and a host of friends. VISITATION:5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2007 in the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home in Hibbing. Visitation will continue Saturday, Oct. 6,from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Funeral Service in Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Pastor Erik Holleque will officiate.
