Dennis Krauss Obituary

Dennis S. Krauss, age 77, of Walnut Creek, CA, passed away on July 1, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was a physician and a former Barrington resident.

Born in New York, New York on May 7, 1948, Dennis grew up in Brighton, MA, attending Boston Latin School and Harvard College. He knew from an early age that he wanted to be a doctor, like his father. He attended medical school at The University of Vermont.

In 1979, he moved to Barrington with his wife, Paula, and their children. He joined a private endocrinology practice in Providence where he worked for the next 35 years, focusing on the treatment of diabetes. Dennis became known in the community as a caring and thorough physician.

Dennis led a full life outside of work. He played tennis, became a fixture on the sidelines of his children's sporting events, and was active in the Jewish community. He and Paula owned a vacation home on Lake Winnipesaukee in Moultonborough, NH, where he loved spending quality time with family and friends. At his lake home, and especially on his motorboat, he experienced immense joy and gratefulness.

Dennis met Paula during their college years when they both worked as camp counselors at a summer camp on Cape Cod. They married in June 1970 and recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.

In 2017, following his retirement, he and Paula moved to California to be closer to children and grandchildren. There, he fought valiantly against Parkinson's disease and continued to enjoy reading, lectures, restaurants, and time with family and friends.

Dennis was the son of the late Herbert Krauss and Ruth (Shabsels) Krauss. He leaves behind his wife, Paula; his children, Jeff Krauss, Greg Krauss, and Emily (Krauss) Grossberg; his grandchildren, Lila Krauss, Eva Krauss, Ella Grossberg, and Jake Grossberg; his son-in law, Eric Grossberg; his daughter-in-law, Carrie Sullivan Krauss; and his siblings, Sandra Webber, Beverly Hugo, and Robert Krauss. He was preceded in death by his brother, Malcolm Krauss.

Dear Paula and family,
"Dr. Dennis" was a treasured student in my PD dance class, before COVID. I loved working with him and we stayed in touch through email during COVID. I was thinking about him over the last several weeks, and then saw donations in his memory in the PNMD newsletter. My deepest condolences to you and your family. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to know and dance with "Dr. Dennis". I will remember him always
With support and love,
