Mildred S. Wharton

MILDRED S. WHARTON Passed away at her San Leandro home March 16, 2004 at the age of 79. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Finger, Tennessee on March 24, 1924. She was a resident of San Leandro for 45 years and a graduate of Laney College with an A.A. degree in Art Therapy. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ and the San Leandro Art Association. Mildred was a volunteer with Vesper Memorial, enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. Beloved sister of Manuel Smith and wife, Elvie of Finger, Tenn., and Edna Rhodes and husband, Adrain, of Nashville, Tenn. Beloved wife for 33 years of the late Clarence O. Wharton. Loving mother of Diane Osborne of New Braunfels, Texas, Donna Moser of San Leandro, Merida Castellano of Pleasanton, Binky Koski of Dublin, Micky Williams of Edmond, OK, Danita Romero of Pleasanton, Vic Wharton of Oakdale, Chuck Wharton of Castro Valley, and the late Glinda Douglas and Buck Wharton. Dear mother-in-law to Kathy Wharton, Tammy Wharton, Mike Osborne, Joe Moser, Frank Castellano, Matt Koski, Dennis Romero, Kent Williams and John Douglas. Beloved grandmother of Debra, Richard, Suzanne, Michael, Heather, Peter, Dana, Ryan, Megan, Aaron, Carie, Jeff, Sarah, Emily, Josh, Dan, Lauren, Jenna, Ben, Leanna, Matt, Hannah, Nick, Ashley, Alex, Kyle and the late Jennifer Moser. Dear great-grandmother of Lindsay, George Jr., Melissa, Shaun, Justin, Andrea, Maggie, Marshall, Taylor, Alyssa, Lorenzo, Monica, Janesa, Lilyana, Kayla and Alana. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends, loving caregiver Vyrtice Carter and her daughter, Jotice Wallace. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched. Service to be held Friday, March 19, 2004 at 6:30 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home in Hayward. Private family burial.
