Douglas Haas Obituary

Douglas Lloyd Haas Oct. 8, 1951 - July 10, 2010 Resident of Pleasanton Douglas Lloyd Haas, born October 8, 1951 and passed away July 10, 2010 in Palo Alto after a long battle with diabetes. The loving son of Ludwig and Veatrice Haas, who preceded him in death, Doug is survived by his children, Michelle, Jacob and Rebekah, his granddaughter Chloe, his brothers Greg and Michael, and his former wife Elizabeth. An aircraft mechanic by trade, Doug was a strong and outgoing man whose passions were his family, his friends, and his Harley Davidson. Born and raised in Castro Valley, Doug was a proud veteran of the Vietnam era. He was a treasure to all that knew him, and even now his radiant smile is already missed. A remembrance for Doug will be held July 19th at 1pm at the Home of Eternity Chapel, 5000 Piedmont Ave, Oakland. Donations in lieu of flower may be to Fisherhouse.org.

I love you Papa, seeing this makes me sad, your name doesn't belong here. But I realize I cannot be selfish, you belong somewhere better than here. And that's where you are, basking in the sun which doesn't make you itch now :) and just chillin with Jager. You were the best Papa I could have ever asked for, I thank god I had a Papa like you, you were the best and still are. No one compares to you, and no one ever will. Chloe and I love you. Forever and always, to the moon and back!

My deepest sympathies to his family, our family. Uncle Doug was a wonderful man and very funny. You will be missed and but you will always be remembered. To my aunt and my cousins, take care of each other and always remember the good times. He will always be with you.

I remember Doug as a vibrant, good hearted and strong man. My daughter Megan was a good friend of his daughter Michelle, and often spent time at their house. She got to know him better than I did, and always told me he was a good and fair minded man, and treated us with respect. We are all so sorry for your loss. He was a tried and true Castro Valleyite. - Mic Gillette, Tower of Power
