Douglas King Obituary

Douglas M. King 5/6/37-9/16/11 Resident of Castro Valley Douglas Morrill King passed away Friday morning Sept. 16th after a brief illness. The oldest son of Augustus and Leva King, Doug was born and raised in the Hayward area and graduated from Hayward High School in 1955. After graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1959 and marrying Mary Lou King in 1965, Doug moved to Castro Valley where he lived the rest of his life. He enjoyed a career as an airline pilot and retired as a captain in 1990 from TWA. Doug was an avid antique car and plane enthusiast, fraternizing with several clubs such as the Hayward Head Hunters, Horseless Carriage Club and the Early Ford V8 Club. His passion for racing led him to numerous achievements and afforded him many friendships. Doug leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Mary Lou, and four sons, Greg, Eric, Scott and Brian.

So sad to hear of Doug's passing. My sincere condolences to his family.

I met Doug when he was with TWA. For certain when Doug's name would come up among all those who knew him...there was never anything but good things said. He was genuinely a wonderful guy.

He will be sadly missed by all of us....but somhow I believe we will see each other again.

We enjoyed knowing Doug briefly and seeing him appreciate the John Deere Linderman crawler tractor from us that he restored. How conscientious that he had its provenance recorded.
