Jean Lupton Lynch

JEAN LUPTON LYNCH Passed away with family at her bedside in her Berkeley home on July 5, 2007. She was born August 15, 1911 on the family ranch in Yoakum County, Texas. Jean taught in Pep, Texas where she met her husband-to-be, James J. Lynch. He earned his doctorate at UC Berkeley and was an English professor there until his death in 1962. Jean is survived by her five children: Jeanella (Jim) Arthur of Johnston, Iowa; Kathleen Lynch of Berkeley; James (Katie) Lynch of Auburn; Tim (Janet) Lynch of Visalia; and Bridget (Mark) Fischer of Camarillo. She was the grandmother of 15 and the great-grandmother of 18. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Owen of Lubbock, Texas, and sisters-in-law Grace Wilson of Waterloo, Iowa; Edna Lupton of Shallowater, Texas; and Katie Lupton of Hereford, Texas. Her husband, as well as her sisters "Happy" Snyder, Louise Crockett, Katherine Kimes, and her brothers Walter and Richard Lupton, predeceased her. Visitation will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 10, at Sunset View Mortuary (510-525-5111) at the top of Fairmont Avenue in El Cerrito, followed by a vigil service from 7:00 to 8:00. The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 11, at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 1640 Addison Street, Berkeley. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in San Pablo.
