Joe Marsh Obituary

JOE MARSH September 6, 1962 - June 13, 2007 Devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle. Joe was many things and did them all with skill and gusto. A renowned baseball and softball player. His enthusiasm for a well-played game was well known. His exploits carried him from his CYO to Old Nordvic Field to Bellarmine Prep to UC Davis and beyond. Joe was a stand out player at the plate or on the field. He was also a classic dugout cut-up. His teammates and friends will surely miss his style and humor, as will his new team at Pearsons Appliances in Cordelia. Joe was an excellent salesman and conversationalist who made everyone feel better after talking with him. His sense of humor was ever present and joyfully inescapable. Joe is survived by his loving wife, Kathie, his daughter, Victoria, and their children, Kassie and Travis. His brothers, Tom, Dan and his wife Jennifer, and Brian and his wife Frances. He is also survived by his mother Patricia Marsh and many nieces and nephews as well as countless other relatives and friends. Joe is now re-united with his father, friend and mentor, Victor Blaze Marsh who passed away in 1999. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, June 19, 10 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 37588 Fremont Blvd., Fremont. Donations can be made to the American Heart Association Alameda County Chapter, 1710 Gilbreth Road, Burlingame, 94010.

My wife Joyce and I, are deeply saddened at the loss of your Joe. We recently were looking through some softball photos of fifteen years past and came upon a picture of Joe that refreshed our memories vividly of the joy that Joe conveyed to others, not to mention his prowess on the field. One brief memory was the time he had loaned one of his gloves to my son who, in turn, had misplaced it. I was furious with my son but Joe took it in stride and told me not to worry. That was the kind of man he was; quick to share a laugh, teach others how the game should be played and never to forget, his willingness to be there when others needed his love. It wasn't two weeks ago that I said to my wife, "I wonder how Joe Marsh is?". Well, we now know the answer; he's just fine. May God bless all of his family and friends in their time of sorrow.

Joe was one of the nicest and funniest people I have ever met. Since we were fraternity brothers, it would not be appropriate to recant most/any of my memories of Joe, but I am happy to say that they are all good. My thoughts and prayers go to the family.

...one of my life's great joys was an end of the day phone call to or from Joe. We'd call one another during our commute home, catching up on old news, current events, and of course, who could make the other laugh harder...it was a great call when I'd circle the neighborhood an extra 15 minutes not wanting the call to end. The tales of fun, chaos, fame & adventure are too numerous to share here, but if you should ever see me with a blank stare and a grin on my face, please know I remembering one of them. God Bless Joe Marsh. --Kevin Fogarty (Keverty)

Our thoughts go out to the Marsh family at this tragic time. As a respected competitor, Joe seemed to always have a smile on his face. Although we have not seen each other in many years the memories fill my head like they happened yesterday.
you will be missed!
