Julia Simi Obituary

Julia Simi Resident of Oakland Julia Simi, resident of Oakland, was born in Plummer, Idaho on Sept. 27, 1921. After the untimely death of her father, a U.S. Marshall, Julia, age 6, moved with her mother and brothers to Oakland seeking the support of extended family. Julia graduated from Oakland High School and Merritt Business College before taking up a secretarial career and eventually marrying Paul Simi, also of Oakland, who died in 1989. She lived on Picardy Drive, Oakland's Christmas Tree Lane, for 43 years enjoying the seasonal rituals of that small community tremendously. Julia Simi passed away peacefully on Mother's Day, May 14, 2006. She is survived by her three daughters: Pamela (Penny) Simi of Berkeley, Jan Simi of Alameda, and Joy Lopes of Oakland; her son-in-law Roger Shane of Berkeley; her granddaughter Allyson Wiley of San Francisco; and her grandson Charles Simi of Oregon and his daughters Brianna and Julia. Her daughters benefit from the legacy of her quick wit, fierce independence, and irreverent sense of humor. In accordance with her wishes, she will be celebrated at a private family gathering in June.
